Machine Sciences Corp. Announces $28 Million Investment to Expand Domestic Manufacturing Capacity


Tualatin, Oregon — June 29, 2026 — Machine Sciences Corp. (MSCI) today announced a $28 million investment in expanded domestic manufacturing capacity, adding 16 new 5-axis machining centers, advanced inspection systems, and expanded assembly capabilities at its Tualatin, Oregon facility. The investment is designed to support rapid growth in American demand across the space, defense, and aerospace sectors, serving both prototyping and full-scale production needs.

Significant Expansion of Machining Capacity

At the core of the investment are 16 GROB G350 5-axis machining centers, representing a substantial increase in MSCI’s machining capabilities. Each machine is fully equipped with HMR workholding and Haimer toolholding systems to ensure high precision and repeatability.

This expansion is expected to increase MSCI’s total machining capacity by approximately 54%, with a significant increase in available 5-axis machining capability.


“The addition of so many identical machines at the same time allows for total redundancy and flexibility in our operations, as well as backwards compatibility with our existing production system,” said Malcolm Paulston, Machine Sciences’ Production Manager. “Our new GROB G350 machines can accept 95% of all milled parts we currently manufacture, so we can put this capacity to work in service of existing and future customer demand.”


Expanded Inspection and Quality Capabilities

To support increased production volume while maintaining stringent quality standards, MSCI is adding three new ZEISS Contura coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), bringing the total to seven CMMs across the facility. These additions complement existing ZEISS Accura II and ZEISS Duramax systems.


MSCI has also introduced a Customer Quality Engineer role to better align with customer-facing Supplier Quality and Supplier Development engineering functions.


“In addition to adding the new ZEISS Contura CMM to our machine lineup, we have also added a new Customer Quality Engineer role that is designed to strengthen integration with customer SQE and Supplier Development teams. As our business scales, we will continue to ensure alignment and confidence in every step of the manufacturing process,” said Ron Beyer, Machine Sciences’ Quality Manager.


Growing Assembly Capabilities

Recognizing a broader industry trend, MSCI is expanding its assembly capabilities to support OEM customers who prefer to outsource subassembly work. While the company has long supported basic hardware assembly (such as Helicoils and inserts), future capabilities will be guided directly by customer needs through ongoing discussions and surveys. “Offering additional assembly services will help our customers receive exactly what they need, giving them back time to increase their build cadence,” explained Rainbow Sessions, Machine Sciences’ Planning Manager.


Facility and Workforce Expansion

This investment will also drive significant growth at MSCI’s Tualatin headquarters, with plans to add more than 50 new advanced manufacturing jobs in 2026.


“With the addition of our newest GROB G350 machines, we are strengthening our ability to support advanced aerospace manufacturing demand at scale. This expansion also reflects our continued investment in growing our team through the local community of highly skilled machinists, quality inspectors, and support functions,” noted Erin Chapman, Machine Sciences’ Director of People.


Delivery Timeline and Customer Engagement

Deliveries of MSCI’s new GROB G350 machines began in June 2026, with the final two machines scheduled to arrive in January 2027.


MSCI will begin allocating new capacity to key customers immediately. Existing customers are encouraged to coordinate directly with their Key Account Managers to secure production slots. New customers are invited to engage with MSCI to explore partnership opportunities.
