About the Role
The Technical Project Manager is the key to accurate execution for our customers. Sitting on the Sales team, but supporting with systems-thinking and operational know-how, the TPM is a make-it-happen, see-it-coming-and-fix-it-first, “glue-like” team member helping enable Machine Sciences' customer commitments to come to fruition. The ideal candidate thrives on details and data, communicates with uncommon professionalism, and brings a scrappy, Honey Badger Mentality when things get complicated. They thrive in systems and processes that prevent problems, creating and enabling them when needed. They are a dynamic duo with Key Account Managers, both interacting with and serving our customers and being execution leaders. Above all, they embody our Core Values of Hungry, Humble, Collaborative, and Smart in every interaction — internal and external.
Key Responsibilities
● Honey Badger Mentality [HBM]. Our customers are world-changers, and working with them can
be complicated and difficult. Maintain HBM as things go wrong — maintain a scrappy, go-get-it,
fix-the-problem mentality regardless of what you’re presented with.
● Dynamic. Be a dynamic team member, identifying and proactively solving problems alongside
Key Account Managers and Operations counterparts.
● Data + Detail Oriented. The minutia is critical — the Project Manager loves details and data,
ensuring their accuracy for the sake of our customers. If we fail our customers, we fail ourselves,
and part of your role is predicting and avoiding that at all costs.
● Systems + Process. Solving things on a one-off level is acceptable, and sometimes needed, but
always striving to propose and implement systems and process to anchor improvements is
desired.
● Thoughtful. Have a nose for what’s unspoken, unstated, or otherwise unclear, and seek to clarify
and meet the needs of the customer and our business.
● Commitment Keeper. Manufacturing is hard. We strive to ‘marshal every reasonable resource to
make good on our commitments’. This may mean outsized efforts in some cases.
● Uncommon Professionalism. This is our core value proposition to our customers, and will be
core to how you communicate with customers and co-workers. Don’t mail it in — show up in a
shockingly impressive and professional manner.
● Learner. Thoroughly understand the business, programs, products, buying staff, and structure of
each customer and opportunity
● Comprehend. Understand customer part prints, specifications, quality requirements, and other
technical details
● On-It. Timely responses to all customer and co-worker inquiries and requests, which may be
outside our normal business hours
● Bridge. You’re a bridge between KAMs, customers, operations team members, and more.
● Quoting. Build out quotes that are rooted in reality, meet the needs of our customers, align with
our capabilities and competencies, and are ultimately healthy for our business. Do this in a timely
fashion.
● Move the Needle. Set and meet sales goals and objectives set by leadership
● Customer-Centric. Be a champion for your customers’ work internally, and supporting KAMs in
the onboarding of new customers and new work.
● Bring It On. Additional work as requested and needed by the business.
● Digitally Enabled. Mathematical and technical capability will be required to be successful in this
job.
